Dear parents,
Starting school is an exciting time of learning and exploration for your child. It's also an important step in your life as parent. It can be a little challenging time too but with little encouragement and preparation you can help your child settle easily at school. It will also help your child feel more confident about the big changes that are about to happen.
This document contains some important tips to help you prepare your child for starting school and make this move a happy and positive one.
Its perfectly normal if your child is unable to read, write
or recognize numbers before he starts school. Your child definitely has special abilities and talents. At school our experienced teachers will help him learn and progress at his own pace.
As parents it's more important that you and your child spend quality time and have fun together. You can read books, tell stories, sing rhymes, play games and talk about the activities and learning your child enjoys at school.

Try to act confident yourself. If you seem anxious and unsure about leaving your child, your child will pick up on that and start wondering if there really is something to worry about!
Be consistent with good byes. We will greet your child and you can say good-bye. We promise to embrace your child and help ease him/her into the classroom!
Make sure to say good-bye when you leave. Trying to "sneak out" when the child is busy and not looking sometimes makes the kids panic a few minutes later, and may make separation even more difficult the next day.
Arrive on time! It seems to be easier on most children if they arrive just with their friends! It can be much harder when they arrive after all of the other children have settled into activities.
We are parents ourselves and really do understand how hard this can be. We know that you are entrusting us with a very precious gift, and we feel honored that we will be your child's first teachers.
If your child is having an especially hard time, we will give you a call on your cell or home phone.
We are looking forward to a great year!
Talk to your child about school. What dos he /she think it will be like? What is he/she looking forward to?
Look at school’s website and Facebook page together and talk about the environment, activities and children in the pictures.
Find photos of you and other family members at school, and talk about happy memories from your own school days.
If possible, visit the school with your child before commencement of academic session.
If your child seems anxious about school, try focusing on the things they’ll like best like the garden, activity area, play-room or new friends.
If your child has a favorite toy, you can send it with your child during first two weeks of the new school session.
It’s natural to feel nervous about your child starting school, but remember that your child can easily pick up on your emotions. Try to be relaxed and positive, rather than showing your own nerves
